Our Story

Spitony’s Pizza has been a family tradition since 1975. It was started by Spiro Chakalos and his brother Tony Harris. Putting their names together wasn’t the only thing they incorporated to make Spitony’s unique and successful. They merged their families into the entire daily operation which continues today, three generations later.

Together at YiaYia’s house in Vourvoura, a village in southern Greece, Spiro who immigrated to the United States with his wife Demetra in 1956 came with nothing but pocket change and an eagerness to work hard. They together struggled to learn the language and to live the dream of owning their own business. In 1971, they purchased the property in New Baltimore Virginia where Spitony’s is today.

Originally Spitony’s started as a snack bar located inside of a Stuckey’s candy and gift shop. In 1974 a pizza oven was installed in the snack bar and Spitony’s was born. The Stuckey’s building closed in 1978 and Spitony’s continued its own separate business.

Today, Spitony’s Pizza is run by Bill, Tracey, Alex, and Lauren Chakalos. We are proud to have kept the business in the family and look forward to continuing to serve the Warrenton community for many more years to come!
